RMU WBB Team Preview
Head coach Sal Buscaglia’s renaissance at Robert Morris came to complete fruition with last season’s NEC Championship. The Colonials won a combined four conference games in the three seasons prior to Buscaglia’s arrival in 2003, but now it looks as if this team will be a title contender for at least the near future. Despite losing all-NEC second teamer guard Sugiery Monsac (16.2 ppg and 9.2 rpg) to graduation, the Colonials still have the talent for a repeat run starting with all-league first team selection senior forward Chinata Nesbit (Washington, DC/Chipola Juco). There may not be a more complete offensive player in the NEC than the 6-2 Nesbit who averaged a double-double (19.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg) and also dished out the fourth-most assist in the league (113). Senior guard Psyche Butler (Fort Worth, TX/New Mexico Juco), who averaged 9.1 ppg and 6.3 rpg, will also help make up for the six graduated letter winners as will the 10 newcomers Buscaglia added to the roster. At least six of the newcomers should be somewhat polished, having transferred into RMU from junior colleges. |
