WC WBB Team Preview
Wagner only managed three wins, but the return of senior guard Chelsey Bunyer (Shannon, IL/Eastland) and the addition of a talented freshmen class indicate improvement is likely. Bunyer tallied 10.4 points per game on a team that managed the league’s lowest scoring output (53.9 ppg). Freshman forward Ashley Olsen (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) may help better that total, having averaged 17.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as a high school senior. Olsen’s production increased to nearly 25 points per game during Notre Dame Academy’s post-season championship run through New York’s Class B. Head coach Gela Mikalauskas can also call on senior Ali Ridge for front court production. Suffering through an injury-plagued season, Ridge (Barrington, IL/Fremd) managed 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as well as 45 blocks in 18 games of action (11 starts). |
