The 2010 NEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will remain an eight-team format with the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be played at predetermined host Saint Francis (PA). The host of the championship game will be the highest remaining seed.

NEC Tournament quarterfinal play commences on Saturday, March 6, followed by the semifinal round on Sunday, March 7. The NEC will hold the league’s 23rd annual women’s championship game on Sunday, March 14. For the third year in a row, the title game will be played in front of a national television audience on ESPNU. Tip-off is 3:00 pm.

This year's tournament format featuring a single campus site hosting the quarterfinals and semifinals, followed by the highest remaining seed hosting the championship game was also utilized in 1998 (hosted by CCSU), from 2002-04 (hosted by Wagner) and in 2008.  The NEC employed a high seed hosting format from 1991-97 and 2005-07, had the tournament contested at one campus site (Wagner, in 1999), as well as at a municipal arena (Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton in 2000-01).
