Horton has been practically unstoppable as of late, as evidenced by his back-to-back Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week accolades. Horton, who has collected weekly honors four times on the year, averaged 25.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 4.5 steals as the second place Blue Devils split a pair of games with Bryant during NEC Rivalry Week. He shot 58.8 percent from the floor and 90.0 percent from the line. In CCSU’s 71-55 win over the Bulldogs on Thursday, he finished with 23 points, 11 boards and six blocks, and established a career-high with six steals as the Blue Devils stretched their win streak to seven and won for the 10th time in 11 games at home. Horton went on to post a game-high 27 points and grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds on Saturday, but CCSU came up short in overtime after staging a late comeback to send the game past regulation. The Ossining, NY native added three steals and finished 11-17 from the field in the 85-80 setback. The two double-doubles pushed his league-leading total to ten. Horton also leads the NEC in scoring (19.1 ppg), rebounding (8.9 rpg) and blocks (1.6 bpg). He also ranks third in free throw percentage (.870), and seventh in field goal percentage (.490) and steals (1.6 spg). Horton’s 1,307 career points rank 14th on CCSU’s all-time list.
