Cara Gonzalez, Wagner
Gonzalez wins the final NEC Player of the Week award of the 2008 season after finishing the week with nine goals, two assists, 12 draw controls and four ground balls in three games. In the Seahawks’ conference finale, she established career-highs with six goals and eight draw controls, and also added an assist and two ground balls in a come-from-behind 19-17 win at Long Island. Gonzalez scored three times in the last 17 minutes to help Wagner rally from a 13-10 deficit. The Syracuse, NY native also recorded two goals, an assists and three draw controls in a 19-13 setback to Bucknell and contributed a goal, two ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control in a 13-7 setback to playoff-bound Monmouth. On the year, Gonzalez leads Wagner with 44 draw controls and ranks third in the NEC with 2.93 per game. She finished second on the Seahawks with 28 goals, nine assists, 37 points and 34 ground balls.
