Women's Lacrosse NEC Player of the Week

Amanda Williams, Sacred Heart

Williams claims her second NEC Player of the Week award after leading Sacred Heart to a pair of wins last week that clinched a share of the conference regular season title for the second year in a row and the top seed in this weekend’s NEC Tournament. The Monroe, CT native recorded eight goals - including three free position markers - three assists, eight ground balls, five draw controls and five caused turnovers on the week. In a 12-4 victory at CCSU on Friday, she finished with four goals and two assists. She also scooped up four ground balls and finished with three draw wins and three caused turnovers. Williams went on to deliver a clutch performance with four goals, an assist and four ground balls in Sacred Heart’s regular season finale against Wagner. She scored her 50th goal to tie the game at 9-9 in the first overtime and notched her league-leading 51st of the year just 15 seconds into the third extra session to give the Pioneers a 10-9 victory and the right to host the league tournament. On the year, she leads the NEC in both goals (3.19) and points (4.5) per game and has established new Sacred Heart Division I single-season marks with 51 goals and 72 points.
