Women's Lacrosse NEC Defensive Player of the Week
|
Monica Johnson, Monmouth
Johnson captures NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season for her role in Monmouth’s 2-0 week. She posted a 5.50 goals against average and .677 save percentage for the defending champion Hawks, who enter this week’s NEC Tournament as the #3 seed riding a four-game winning streak. Johnson posted 11 saves and collected three ground balls in a 13-7 win over Wagner on Friday, then stopped 12 shots and allowed just four goals against the NEC’s third-ranked scoring offense in a 10-4 triumph over archrival Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday. Johnson, a Radnor, PA native, ranks third in the NEC in both goals against average (9.63) and save percentage (.521, 11th nationally).
