Women's Lacrosse NEC Defensive Player of the Week
|
Tiffany Manzi, Quinnipiac
Manzi, the reigning NEC Player of the Year, has adapted her playing style in her senior campaign and developed into one of the premier two-way threats in the league for the Bobcats, who earned a share of the NEC regular season championship for the second consecutive season and the #2 seed in the conference tournament. Her play on both ends of the field was a key factor in Quinnipiac’s 3-0 week as the Bobcats ended the year on an eight-game win streak and finished 12-2 overall. Manzi, who hails from Agawam, MA, marked two of the better offensive players in the conference last week and held them to a combined one assist as the Bobcats defeated both Wagner (18-13) and Monmouth (7-4). She finished the week with seven ground balls and six caused turnovers, provided some offensive punch with eight goals and three assists, and finished with nine draw controls. In the win over playoff bound Monmouth on Sunday, she claimed four ground balls and caused two turnovers. Manzi heads into the postseason second on the Bobcats with 30 ground balls, and also ranks third with 16 caused turnovers.
