In the NEC's first full week of conference action, Monmouth, St. Francis, Robert Morris and Stony Brook each captured wins as the Hawks and Red Flash move into a tie for first place in the league standings with a 2-0 mark. Monmouth made easy work of Sacred Heart in a 45-14 win, compiling nearly 500 total yards and holding the Pioneers to 123. To Blue and White twosome of quarterback Brian Boland and wideout Miles Austin was unstoppable on Saturday as Boland threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns while Austin collected 10 receptions for 235 yards and four scores. Not only did St. Francis beat Central Connecticut State, 31-28, the Red Flash won two games in the NEC for the first time since the league's inception in 1996. SFU signal caller Anthony Doria was 35-for-44 for 342 yards and a touchdown and flanker Michael Caputo posted a career-high 14 catches for 155 yards and one TD to lead the Red Flash to its biggest win in recent history. The Colonials held off a late Seahawk charge, topping Wagner, 38-30 at Joe Walton Stadium. RMU tailback Devin Wilson was his team's workhorse, rushing 31 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns as the Colonials break a two-game slide. In this week's finale, Stony Brook edged Albany, 7-3, in the lowest scoring game of the season. SBU's Chris Alceus returned a fumble 16-yards in the third quarter for the game's only touchdown to give the Seawolves a gritty win.
