Brooklyn, NY -- Long Island University seniors Josh Maley and Steve Jakubowski have been named to the Captial One CoSIDA Academic All-District men's soccer team in District I. Both Blackbirds have made an impact on and off the field.

Maley, a business management major with a 3.84 GPA, had found the back of the net seven times in his career, including three game-winners. This season, he's tied for second on the team in goals, with three, and has added four assists.

Jakubowski posts a 3.75 GPA with a double major in finance and business management. The West Deptford, N.J. native has played in all but one game during his time in Brooklyn, scoring 20 career goals. Jakubowski was an All-NEC First Team honoree in 2010, and is currently ranked in the top ten in the Northeast Conference in goals scored.

Maley and Jakubowski, who will now be placed on the Academic All-America ballot, will play their final game at LIU Field on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., when the Blackbirds take on Fairleigh Dickinson.
