Former CCSU Standout Helps Oakland A's Clinch AL West Title

Former Central Connecticut pitcher Evan Scribner played a key role in Oakland Athletics history on Wednesday.  Trailing 5-1, Scribner entered the 162nd game of the season and pitched 3.0 innings of scoreless relief.  The A's came back and won the game 12-5, claiming the AL West title and giving Scribner his second win of the season.

The A's will play the Detroit Tigers in a best-of-five series beginning on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Detroit.

The playoff roster for the A's will be announced prior to Saturday's game.  Scribner finished the 2012 season with a 2.55 ERA and a 2-0 record, along with one save.  He pitched 35.1 innings and struck out 30 batters, including two on Wednesday.
