LIU Brooklyn Women's Bowling
Brooklyn, NY -- LIU Brooklyn Director of Athletics John Suarez has announced the hiring of Kayla Jones as the new head women's bowling coach. Jones comes to Downtown Brooklyn after a standout four-year bowling career at Kutztown University.

“We are excited to have Kayla join our staff,” Suarez said. “She has a tremendous amount of experience competing at a high level at Kutztown, and I am confident that she will lead our program to new heights in the years to come.”

A four-year letterwinner for the Golden Bears, Jones was named NCAA Division II Bowler of the Year as a senior after leading her team with a 206.5 traditional team average. She was selected as the MVP of the Kutztown Dual Matches Tournament, the Pennsylvania State Championship and the Kutztown Annual Tournament, and was selected as a second team All-American. The All-America honor was the second for Jones, who was an honorable mention selection as a junior.

“I'd like to thank John Suarez and the athletic department for this opportunity,” Jones said. “I'm very excited to join the LIU staff, and help continue the school's success with the bowling program.”

A three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and National Tenpin Coaches Association Academic All-American, Jones was a four-time team MVP for Kutztown and led KU to its first ever NCAA Bowling Championship appearance as a junior.

No stranger to the Northeast Conference, Jones was named to the All-NEC First Team in 2012 after leading the Golden Bears to a fourth-place finish at the NEC Championship. For her efforts, she was also named the Kutztown University Female Athlete of the Year.

Active within the university, Jones was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and graduated from Kutztown with a degree in leisure and sports studies in 2012.

The Blackbirds, who are coming off a record-setting season that saw them register a school-record 48 wins, will begin their season on Oct. 20-21 at Jones' alma mater for the Kutztown Fall Baker Invitational.
