The New England Championships and Metropolitan Championships were popular meets for the NEC cross country teams last week. NEC Athlete of the Week Rich Klauber of Quinnipiac finished the 8K course in a time of 24:35.8, good enough for eighth place out of 261 at the New England Championships. Darrel Gooding of Fairleigh Dickinson is the NEC Rookie of the Week for his two top-eight finishes this week, including an eighth place at the Metropolitan Championships. On the women's side, Bryant's Eimear Black earns her second NEC Athlete of the Week honor after a fifth place finish at the New England Championships, the best of all NEC competitors. Her teammate Annmarie Tuxbury is the NEC Rookie of the Week for a 38th place finish, the fastest of all NEC freshmen.
