Bryant University's student-athletes and coaches are tremendous competitors whenever they take the field, regardless of the opponent. Yet, even in the middle of competition against heated rivals, Bryant's athletes and coaches have never forgotten the tenets of character and leadership that drives each and every one of them.
Such was the case on a recent afternoon during the school's final home football game. Aware of the struggles of Sacred Heart football coach Paul Gorham following surgery last summer, the Bulldogs put together a fundraising event to show support for one of the most respected coaches in the Northeast Conference.
Prior to kickoff, Bryant Director of Athletics Bill Smith and head coach Marty Fine presented Sacred Heart interim coach Mark Nofri and Senior Associate Athletic Director Joe Del Rossi with a check for $1,000 to go towards the Paul Gorham Fund.
Throughout the first half, more and more donations continued to come in, and by the end of the game, the final tally had reached $1,700, all going directly to Coach Gorham to assist in his recovery.
