Bryant Men's Lacrosse earn votes in preseason poll
2/2/2012
Smithfield, RI – For the first time since joining the Division I ranks three seasons ago, the Bryant University men's lacrosse team will start its campaign with an appearance on the national rankings, as the Bulldogs were among teams receiving votes in the 2012 USILA Preseason Division I Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs, who enter their fourth DI season and second with full NCAA eligibility, are the only Northeast Conference team mentioned in the preseason rankings and are joined on the list by three 2012 opponents. Bryant will have to wait until April 20 to take on its top-ranked competitor in No. 18 Yale, while Drexel (March 10) comes in at No. 20. The Bulldogs open their 2012 season on the road Feb. 11 against another team also receiving preseason votes in Colgate.
The University of Virginia takes the top spot with 14 first-place votes, followed by Johns Hopkins, Cornell and Duke (tied for third), and Denver, who rounds out the top five. Fellow New England programs UMass (No. 11), Harvard (No. 13) and Hartford (RV) also check in on the poll.
