Smithfield, RI -- The nation's leading rusher as a junior and one of the most exciting running backs in the country, Bryant University's Jordan Brown (Glastonbury, Conn.) has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American by The Sports Network, released on Monday.

It is the second preseason All-American honor for Brown after being named a First Team Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network two weeks ago. Brown is just one of two players from the Northeast Conference to earn All-American honors from The Sports Network.

Brown returns to Smithfield after rushing for 1,815 yards and 19 touchdowns and earning Third Team All-American honors from The Sports Network. He scored 22 total touchdowns and finished second in the country with 2,500 all-purpose yards. The awards were numerous for the Connecticut native last season as he finished ninth in Walter Payton Award voting, earned All-American honors from three different outlets, earned All-New England honors and was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

In two years as the Bulldogs' full-time running back, Brown has made his mark on the program record books. He has already set program records in rushing attempts in a season (329), most 100-yard rushing games in a season (11), most 100-yard rushing games in a career (20), all-purpose yards in a season (2,500), all-purpose yards in a career (5,187), most points in a season (134), most points in a career (242), most touchdowns in a season (22) and most touchdowns in a career (40).

Brown and the Bulldogs begin their 2012 season in 53 days when Marist comes to Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, September 1 for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff.
