Falmouth, ME -- Central Connecticut sophomore Monte Mullen of the Blue Devil men's golf team wrote in an impressive 67 in the second round of the New England Amateur Championship on Wednesday.   Christopher Swift of Connecticut leads the field at five under par.

The 83rd Annual New England Amateur Championship is being held at Falmouth Country Club in Falmouth, ME.  Golfers who are eligible for the tournament must have a USGA/GHIN Handicap Index of no more than 5.4.  Athletes from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont make up the event's field.

Falmouth Country Club is a par 71 course that plays 6,798 yards long.  The three round tournament began on Tuesday, July 17th with the second round being played on Wednesday, July 18th.  Today will be the third and final round of the tournament.

Mullen penciled in a 75 on day one of the event registering two birdies and making par on 11 of 18 holes.  Day two saw seven birdies from Mullen which placed him tied for fifrth after marking down a 67 for the day.  Mullen is currently at even par and just five strokes off of the tournament leader.  The sophomore began the third round of play at 8:03 a.m. teeing off on the 10th hole.
