Loretto, PA -- The 2012-13 Saint Francis University men's basketball team will play an 11-game non-conference slate featuring dates with Penn State, Notre Dame and four home games, head coach Rob Krimmel announced on Friday.

“We're excited to play a non-conference schedule of this quality because it will give our guys a chance to compete against some extremely talented student-athletes,” said Krimmel, who enters his first season at the helm of the Red Flash.  “Playing 11 quality opponents, including a couple of tournament teams, will go a long way in preparing us to compete in the Northeast Conference.”

The Red Flash opens the season with three road games first on Nov. 9 at Penn State, then they travel to Niagara on Nov. 13 and to Youngstown State on Nov. 16.   SFU's date with the Nittany Lions is its first since the 2007-08 season.

Saint Francis returns home to face the Raiders of Colgate University on Nov. 21 before heading back out on the road for three games, beginning with a Nov. 24 contest at Notre Dame.

The Red Flash will return to the Maurice Stokes Athletic Center to face Lehigh on Dec. 8 and Bucknell on Dec. 17.  Saint Francis will close out the non-conference campaign at Kent State on Dec. 20 and at home versus Cornell University on Dec. 28.

Saint Francis concluded the 2011-12 season with a 6-23 record including a 5-13 mark in Northeast Conference play.  SFU returns its second-leading scorer, Anthony Ervin (Chesterfied, Va./Fork Union Military Acadamy), who averaged 11.2 points per game and will welcome Umar Shannon (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) back to the lineup after missing all but one game in 2011-12 while recovering from an ACL injury.
