Saint Francis U Women's Basketball Raises Money for Families in Need

11/15/2013

Loretto, PA -- The Saint Francis University women's basketball team continued its 2013-14 community initiatives on Monday evening at the Cambria Country War Memorial.

The women collected donations at the SFU men's game against Navy for 'Food for Families Inc." on Nov. 11 at the Cambria County War Memorial and raised $350.

"The team eagerly responded to a request from the St. Vincent DePaul to collect money to help local families at the Navy/Red Flash men's basketball game at the War Memorial," said SFU campus minister Lisa Georgiana.

"With sincere enthusiasm they were able to demonstrate service to the poor and needy, one of seven Franciscan values of higher education."

The Red Flash women will also be holding a "Canned Food Drive" for its Nov. 26 game against Howard and on Dec. 8 against Duquesne it will be the "Toys for Tots" game.

Saint Francis opens its 2013 home schedule tomorrow with a 5 p.m. match-up against Colgate.
