Moon Township, Pa. - Head Coach
Joe Walton of the
Robert Morris University football program has announced that 24 players have agreed to continue their careers with the Colonials in 2013.
Among the new additions are 18 players who will enter school this coming fall as incoming freshmen as well as six mid-year enrollees.
The 2013 RMU recruiting class includes student-athletes from five different states as well as Washington, D.C. and Canada. Of RMU’s incoming recruits, 12 are listed on offense, 12 are listed on defense and two play special teams.
“We are excited about our 2013 recruiting class,” Walton said. “We addressed some areas of need that we had on our team and hopefully filled some holes as well. We think that these incoming student-athletes will increase competition at a bunch of positions on our roster, which will make us better as a team. A lot of these incoming players are from state championship teams, and it is certainly a positive to have guys who have won in the past.”
Five of RMU’s incoming recruits can play on the defensive line, while the Colonials also welcome a quartet of offensive linemen and three student-athletes that can play quarterback, three that can play linebacker and three that are defensive backs.
Spring practice for Robert Morris begins Monday, April 1, and will continue for three weeks. The date for the annual spring game is to be announced.
