NEC Women's Lacrosse Release (3/5) 3/5/2007
Monmouth's Carolyn Raveia and Megan Brennan were tabbed NEC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, to start off the 2007 season, while Erin Coffey of Quinnipiac was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week. Raveia totaled 18 points in Monmouth’s first three games against Howard, Duquesne and Manhattan. In the Hawk’s season opening win against Manhattan, the senior attacker scored five goals on six total shots. She was also 3-of-4 in free position goals, as well as causing two turnovers in the loss against Duquesne. Brennan’s seven points is fifth overall on the team and first among MU’s first-year players. Brennan had three of Monmouth’s 15 goals against Duquesne, including the first goal of the second half to get the Hawks within two goals. Brennan had three points in two separate games and tallied two ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover in her first three games for the Blue & White. Coffey had a breakthrough performance to begin her sophomore campaign and helped the Bobcats begin the season 1-0 with a 10-9 victory over Manhattan. She had a career-high seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls, ranking her first in the NEC. She also added two draw controls.
