Gary Puccio Named FDU Head Baseball Coach
Fairleigh Dickinson University Director of Athletics David Langford announced the hiring of Gary Puccio as Head Baseball Coach, released on Wednesday, August 4. Puccio has been named Coach of the Year six times in his career and has coached over 500 games at the collegiate level. Puccio brings 17 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and 12 years of professional experience as an associate scout for the Seattle Mariners. He comes to Fairleigh Dickinson after serving as the head coach at Briarcliffe College from 2005-2010. "We are excited to welcome Gary to our staff," Langford said. "He has a wealth of experience at many different levels. I am confident that he will do a great job continuing to rebuild our baseball program."

Home Run King Vin Avella
Vin Avella (Matawan, NJ/CBA) became the second member of the 2010 Seahawks to ink a professional contract when the power-hitting Wagner first baseman joined former teammate Andy Wells (Staten Island, NY/St. Peters) on the independent Evansville Otters of the Frontier League. He is the eighth former Seahawk in the last six years to ink a professional baseball contract and the second this year.
