Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Release (2/8)

QU's James Feldeine, FDU's Sean Baptiste & RMU's Karon Abraham   Choice Hotels NEC Co-Player of the Week honors go to Fairleigh Dickinson senior guard Sean Baptiste and Quinnipiac senior guard James Feldeine.  In leading the third place Knights in a series sweep of Monmouth last week, Baptiste averaged 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 61.3 percent from the floor. He scored 27 points and grabbed 10 boards against the Hawks on Thursday and followed with a 24-point outing on Saturday.  Feldeine averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds last week in a pair of Quinnipiac wins over Sacred Heart.  He netted a game-high 27 points versus the Pioneers on Thursday, then scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half as the Bobcats rallied for a 90-87 win on Saturday.  For the fourth time this season, Robert Morris freshman guard Karon Abraham is the recipient of the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week award.  Abraham helped extend the first place Colonials’ win streak to nine with a pair of victories over Saint Francis (PA).  He averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.  Along with teammates Russell Johnson and Velton Jones, Robert Morris players have accounted for six of the 12 weekly rookie honors in 2009-10.

Robert Morris' Angela Pace   The two teams sitting tied atop the Northeast Conference standings are home to the latest Choice Hotels NEC women’s basketball weekly honorees. The Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week award goes to Robert Morris' Angela Pace.  The 5-foot-10 guard did it all in RMU's series sweep of Saint Francis (PA) on NEC Rivalry Weekend. Posting back-to-back double-doubles, including a near triple-double, Pace averaged 16.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 4.0 steals per game.  A pair of four-time honorees share the Choice Hotels rookie award.  Freshman guard Kiley Evans scored no fewer than 15 points in each of Sacred Heart’s NEC Rivalry Week wins.  Meanwhile, Robert Morris rookie forward Vega Gimeno-Martinez averaged a team-high 18.5 points per contest.
