Long Island's Jessie Gaines (Chesapeake, VA/Western Branch) won Most Valuable Performer honors for a second straight year, but this time the individual award came in conjunction with a team title. Behind the extraordinary efforts of Gaines & Co., LIU scored a meet-high 149 points to win the 2010 Northeast Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship presented by Road Runner Sports. The Blackbirds dethroned two-time defending champion Monmouth, which finished second with 130.5 points.
NEC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships - Sacred Heart Emerges as Early Leader
Sacred Heart is the early leader following the first day of competition at the 2010 Northeast Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship presented by Road Runner Sports. Going without a gold medalist, the Pioneers pieced together 29 points to position themselves in front of Long Island (19) and Robert Morris (19) who sit tied for second. Defending meet champion Monmouth (17) sits fourth.
