| Long Island's Selma Babic Falls In First Round of NCAA Singles Tournament |
Long Island University senior Selma Babic dropped a match to Denver’s Ute Schnoy in straight sets in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Tournament. The 6-2, 6-1 loss snapped a 12-match winning streak for Long Island’s Female Athlete of the Year. Babic, who is ranked No. 121 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, started out strong in the first set, winning the first two games, but the tide quickly turned as No. 82 Schnoy was victorious in six straight games to take the first set. The loss eliminated Babic, who was the first player in Long Island and Northeast Conference history to play in the NCAA singles tournament.

| Long Island Women's Tennis Ousted by No. 10 Duke in NCAA First Round |
The Long Island University women’s tennis team fell to No. 10 Duke, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, hosted by Virginia. The Blackbirds dropped the doubles point before falling three times in singles play to give the Blue Devils the win. Long Island fell to 14-4, while Duke improved to 20-7. The Blackbirds had advanced to the NCAA Tournament by winning its second straight Northeast Conference title on April 18th.
