| NEC Women's Tennis Coaches Predict Quinnipiac Will Reclaim Crown |
Will Mary Wilson & Co. reclaim crown?
| |
The Northeast Conference (NEC) women's tennis coaches expect Quinnipiac to reclaim the crown it surrendered to Long Island at last year's championship tournament. The Bobcats, who enjoyed a run of five consecutive NEC titles last decade, received five first-place votes to finish ahead of defending NEC champion LIU in the annual pre-Spring poll of the league's 10 head coaches. Fresh off their first-ever league crown and subsequent NCAA appearance, the Blackbirds garnered four first-place nods to finish second. Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the lone remaining first-place vote to finish third. Sacred Heart and Mount St. Mary's, who have met in the NEC quarterfinal round each of the past two years, finished in a tie for fourth in the poll ahead sixth-place Monmouth. Keystone State rivals Robert Morris and Saint Francis (PA) claimed the seventh and eighth spots, respectively, while New York City residents Wagner and St. Francis (NY) round out the survey in ninth and tenth.
