Baltimore, MD -- Fairleigh Dickinson captured its fourth Northeast Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship over the weekend in a meet held at the UMBC Stadium Complex. The Knights were paced by junior Melene Thomas, who was named the meet's Outstanding Performer..
Thomas was brilliant on the women's side, winning the 100 (12.14) and 200 meter events (24.26), the 100 high hurdles (14.07) and anchoring FDU's winning 4 x 100 meter squad. She qualified for ECAC's in the sprint events, and set a NEC record in the hurdles. The Knights, with 124 points, bested Mt. St. Mary's (95), while St. Francis (PA) and Robert Morris tied for third place with 91 points. Thomas' teammates Geraldine McQueen (3000 meters, 10:36.75; 5000 meters, 17:55.45) and Felicia Henderson (long jump, 19' 5.5"; triple jump, 38' 2.75") also won two events each.
