Northeast Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

NEC SAAC '11-12
About the Northeast Conference SAAC

The Northeast Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (NEC SAAC) consists of 24 members - comprised of two varsity athletes from each conference institution - who give voice to the student-athlete perspective on a regional and national level. The committee provides a medium for its members to develop leadership skills, promote community service and enhance the overall student-athlete experience.

Statement of Purpose
To provide the Northeast Conference with a medium through which its student-athletes’ voices be heard on the regional and national level and to provide Northeast Conference student-athletes a voice in the Conference’s decisions. To provide Northeast Conference student-athletes a medium in which to develop leadership skills and to enhance their academic and athletic experiences. The committee will also provide student-athletes with the opportunity to interact in a diverse group and to foster a positive image of student-athletes.

Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation

Charitable Relationship with the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation

The NEC SAAC has established an ongoing charitable relationship with the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Each winter, the NEC SAAC sponsors an annual fundraising competition amongst the twelve NEC schools, and the proceeds are collectively donated to the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation. The proceeds are presented to the Foundation by the NEC SAAC during its spring meeting, where the student-athletes also participate in a community service project to show their support for the cause (click here for photo gallery of 2011 visit).

"Giving back to the community is one of the primary goals of every athletics department within the Northeast Conference, and once a year our student-athletes come together as one team in support of the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation," said Noreen Morris, Commissioner of the NEC. "The members of the NEC SAAC truly value the ongoing relationship that we've developed with the Foundation.”
